Transform your future with expert legal education.
The Law School Preparatory Program (LSPP) is an online summer institute designed for students interested in attending law school. We focus on two areas of interest.
First, preparing you for the educational environment of law school. Far too many students arrive for their 1L year, only to quickly find themselves buried under an avalanche of unfamiliar concepts and techniques. The LSPP will introduce you to reading cases, tools of legal reasoning, and techniques of legal writing. You will learn how to read critically, brief cases, use the IRAC/CREAC structure for writing, and more.
Second, the application process. Law school applications are superficially similar to other applications students may be familiar with, but are also full of pitfalls. This program will help walk through the process of applying--both what to include on your application as well as what you should be doing right now in order to create the best possible application when the time comes.
The Introductory Course is designed for students who are curious about law school but are not yet close to the stage of application. The focus is broad, offering general introductions to relevant concepts and ideas. This course is particularly well-suited for students who will be starting their undergraduate career in the fall, but is open to students of all ages.
The Introductory Course lasts one week (five three-hour sessions), and is offered in three different time slots across June and July.
The Advanced Course is designed for students who are already somewhat familiar with legal education. This may include current undergraduates who have taken courses in the law (e.g. Constitutional Law, Judicial Process, etc.) or those who have other experience with legal practice (internships, work as a paralegal, etc.). However, there are no prerequisites for admission.
The Advanced Course lasts two weeks (ten three-hour sessions) in late July and early August.
The Introductory and Advanced courses are designed to be supplementary--students are welcome to enroll in both if they want a complete experience.
Applying to law school can feel terrifying. But it doesn't have to be.
