The Introductory Course lasts one week, and classes are in session from 1 PM to 4 PM Eastern time each day, with a short break in the middle of each session. Classes are online, conducted via Zoom. We offer three different sessions.
Session 1: June 23-27
Session 2: June 30-July 4
Session 3: July 7-11
Unlike other law prep courses out there, which assume a pre-existing level of knowledge, this course requires no prior experience in legal education. This makes it particularly well-suited for students who will be starting their undergraduate education in the fall. Your law school application measures your entire college career. If you wait until you are a junior or senior, you will already have missed many crucial opportunities to improve the application.
The introductory course can help you start down the right path. However, applicants of all ages are welcome. It's never too late to start.
Students will be introduced to some key concepts in the study of law (e.g. the Socratic Method, sources of legal claims, how to read cases, synthesizing rules) and will also learn about various aspects of the law school application process (what goes into the application, the LSAT, personal statements, etc.).
Each evening, students will be assigned nightly homework readings, which will provide the basis for the following day’s discussion. The course also includes a few short writing assignments. At the end of the program, students will have the option to draft a short legal memo to receive instructor feedback.
After the course is completed, students will be given a credit for 30 minutes of free individual advising--redeemable during the remaining calendar year.
Cost: $300
Payment is due on the first day of the session. However, you may received a 10% discount by prepaying anytime before June 1.
All course materials (readings, sample personal statements, etc.) will be provided electronically at no cost. Students will need to have a working free Zoom account to join the classes. The full course syllabus, readings, and information for joining sessions will be provided two weeks before the start of the course.
